About This Program
TravelWell, Franciscan Health’s travel medicine services, offers preventative care for international travelers regardless of destination. Our travel medicine centers create a prevention plan for each traveler, considering their itinerary, travel activities, medical history and the destination’s current medical environment.
Our comprehensive travel services include:
- Individual consultation: All clients meet with a physician specializing in preventive and tropical medicine.
- Immunizations: A complete range of CDC-recommended vaccinations to help travelers prepare, including yellow fever vaccine. International Certificate of Vaccination is also provided.
- Up-to-date risk information: Our travel medicine service specialists evaluate the traveler’s current state of health, intended activities and itinerary, defining the risks they might encounter and recommending precautions.
- Education: We offer extensive learning materials to help travelers avoid problems at their destination.
- Medications: We prescribe medicines to prevent malaria or altitude-related conditions or to treat traveler’s diarrhea.
- Continuity of care: Our office prepares a report for primary care physicians in order to keep the traveler’s personal health record up to date.
If possible, it is recommended that travelers schedule their appointment a few months in advance. The initial consultation lasts approximately one hour and may require follow up appointments, depending on vaccination dosages.
